Arizona

Arizona is known for the grand canyon. Arizona's capitol is Pheonix and  Arizona's nickname is the grand canyon state. The state bird is the cactus wren and the state butterfly is the two tailed swallowtail butterfly. Arizona's state flower is the saguaro cactus blossom and the state tree is the Paloverde. The state fossil is petrified wood. Arizona's state motto is Ditat Deus which means God enriches and the state song is the "Arizona March Song ". Arizona got its statehood on February 14, 1912 and the state's abbreviation is AZ. The state gem is turquoise and the state colors are blue and old gold. Arizona's state mammal is the ringtail and the state reptile is the Arizona ridge nose rattlesnake. The state fish is the apache trout and the state amphibian is the Arizona tree frog. Arizona's most popular natural wonders are the grand canyon, petrified forest, painted desert, sunset crater, saguaro national park and the Colorado River. The Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona is where Clyde Tombaugh discovered the dwarf planet Pluto in 1930. Arizona is home to 23 Native American reservations representing 21 different tribes.
